I've piqued your interest!  Here are some of the more important arguments in the theme of the book.

Soldiers and political leaders haven't brought peace in the history of civilization, and it is hopeless to continue to put the future of mankind in their trust.  The best bet to bring world peace is to appeal to the 2.1 billion Christians to finally recognize that the words of Jesus are more truthful than the ones of their old theologians who taught that war could be a just action for men when following Jesus' command to "Love Your Enemy" failed to turn him away.

Heaven could never welcome or house a race or planet of beings who settle differences by violence or war.  They would poison the very peace of heaven itself.   We are not instantly transformed into nonviolent people when "thy kingdom comes" or we step into heaven.  One of Jesus' important missions was to warn us of this test by teaching morality that makes for peace.  Then he demonstrated to us and Our Father in heaven that an innocent human could forgive his enemies as they kill him.

After 6000 years of history with only brief periods of rest from war while we re-arm, annihilation is the only possible destination for our world if we will not lay down our weapons. The sooner we lay down our weapons, the better our odds of survival, and what we do with them will determine mankind's fate on earth.  Jesus said much the same thing, only simpler for his times:  "All those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword."  (Mt 26:52)

Jesus told his followers to "Love your enemies and pray for them." but there is no way to love an enemy nation while you threaten its citizens with nuclear annihilation.    Love and prayers are the weapons Jesus recommended we use on our enemies, and history has shown over and over again that they are the only ones that will bring true peace.

For the most part, it is Christian nations who dreamed up nuclear weapons and have built their huge stockpiles.  If they destroy the world, how can Christians claim that "by his holy cross, Christ has saved (redeemed) the world?"  His cross only saves the world if it is the pacifist example people follow to lay down their weapons.  And even if the world is not totally destroyed by its suicide, Jesus' followers sabotage their mission of preaching Christianity to the world, for how could survivors who have yet to hear the gospel believe that Jesus is “The Prince of Peace" who saved the world?

If the "all-knowing" Jesus could peer past 2000 years of increasingly destructive wars into the 21st century and see the two great nations his "Father gave him" (John 10:29) armed to the teeth with giant nuclear weapons ready to annihilate each other, wouldn't he have done everything possible to warn us?  He did, but today's Christians read his story in wishful thinking to justify their self-righteous behavior and limit his words of peace to renditions of calm and serenity.  We ignore and deny his most profound commandments: "Love your enemies and pray for them so that you may be sons of your Father in heaven." and "Do good to those who hate you." and "lend expecting nothing in return."    (Matthew 5:44-45, Luke 6:27, & Luke 6:35)

Accepting that Jesus preached and lived nonviolence clarifies and cements nearly all of his moral teaching especially the only promise we make to God-- our promise to forgive in the great prayer he taught, the Lord's Prayer.  Christians have been in denial about these truths of Jesus for the last 17 centuries to make "just war," usually on each other while each nation claims the moral high ground.

You say that giving up our defense is impractical, but Jesus taught several things we consider impractical today.  "Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back." (Luke 6:30).  "But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back." (Luke 6:35)

(The book may be a dud, but it may also become a runaway bestseller with new interpretations of ideas that are the surest way to bring peace to the world.  It is an enormous mountain, but we cannot fail to try.)
